Example 4 of 4

Extreme exposure and noise - approaching the noise limit for pattern constancy

The much darker image at t2 results in heavy noise after enhancement which shows up as a
pattern. Since very few features coincide between the two images, the resulting composite
merely shows red and blue interspersed and very little magenta, suggesting that correlation
is poor.

As demonstrated in the past, noise is the limiting factor for obtaining good enhancements in
extremely poor visibility imaging and this demonstrates likewise that noise is the limiting
factor for obtaining pattern constancy.
